Is your marketing program stalled?

So 11 months remain in 2013. How is your marketing and sales program going?

Okay, so the answer may be “not-so-good.” Well, the fact of the matter is, it does not really matter when you start your marketing program. What is most important is that you have a written plan and you commit to a strategy that will help you achieve your goals.

Even if you have a strategy in place, you should review the plan frequently to make sure you are on target for meeting set goals. If your program is not producing the results you need, then make modifications sooner rather than later.

I’ve compiled a few tips that might help you plan on tackling your review. I’ve found this overall approach to be helpful for me and when talking with prospects.

Assess your goals.
What do you hope to accomplish with marketing communications? Your goals may vary depending on your type of business and overall objectives. Whether it is branding or sales-oriented, having a clear understanding of your goals is essential to moving forward with a strategy that will help you achieve success.

Assess your resources.
Do you have the financial and human resources in place to help you reach set goals? Knowing your budget and strengths of your team members can help you make the necessary plans to allocate money and hire the resources to accomplish your mission (whether it be hiring internal personnel or a consultant/agency).

Commit to making it happen.
When it comes down to it, someone has to be responsible for keeping your marketing strategy going. Assign the responsibility to yourself, a team member, or an agency. As long as someone has the ball, there is a greater chance that projects will keep moving.

Without a frequent assessment of our strategy, you could be setting yourself up for setbacks that might not be easily reversible. At the end of the day, you cannot do it all alone. Knowing what you can do and when you need help is important to helping your business bounce back from the great recession and grow.

At SRJ Marketing Communications, we can help define your goals and create a strategy that will help you reach them. With more than 24 years of experience, you can trust we know a thing or two about creating success.
